Our Founder

Barbara Gordon

Barbara received a B.S. in Home Sciences from Texas Tech University and a Master of Education from Texas Women’s University.   She completed the AMI Primary training at the Centro de Estudios de Educación in Mexico City.  In addition to founding BGMS, from which she retired in 2006, Ms. Gordon served as Head of School at the St. Alcuin Montessori School in Dallas for 25 years, and also directed Montessori of Maui in Hawaii, Whitby School in Greenwich, CT. and the Children’s Montessori School in Ipswich, MA.  She is a consultant to numerous Montessori schools throughout the nation and the Executive Director of AMITOT, and she serves on the board of the Montessori Institute of North Texas (MINT).
