BGMS Library

The library at The Barbara Gordon Montessori School is designed to serve the needs of the children.  We continue to expand the number of volumes available for check-out.  Please feel free to make donations to the school library at any time.  A book plate with your child’s name will be placed in the book.  If you have any questions, please contact the office.  A special section of the library is devoted to books of interest to parents, including a large number of books about the Montessori philosophy, and we invite and encourage parents to check out books.

If primary extended day children visit the library to check out a book, It is their responsibility to return the book the following week.  The elementary children may visit the library on a daily basis.  They may check out two books for a two-week period.

Please advise the librarian if a damaged or defaced book comes home so that we can repair it promptly.  Also, please take some time to discuss the importance of properly handling books and the privilege of using the library with your child.  Our goal is for annual library acquisitions to exceed attrition due to damage and loss.  A replacement fee will be assessed for each lost or irrepairably damaged book.

These rules are designed to help the students develop the independence and confidence that come with responsibility.
