Mary Caroline Parker (Ms. Parker) Head of School

Mary Caroline graduated from Smith College with a B.A. in Latin American Studies.  She has a J.D. from Washington College of Law, American University, and an M.Ed. in Montessori Integrative Learning from Endicott College.  She earned the AMI Primary diploma in 1975 from the Centro de Estudios de Educación in Mexico City.

Mary Caroline is a member of the Board of Directors of AMI in Amsterdam, where she serves in the “Humanitarian and Child Outreach” position and on the Educateurs sans Frontières Task Force (“Teachers Without Borders”).  She is a founding board member of AMI/United States Foundation.  Mary Caroline is also active in local organizations, serving on the boards of the Montessori Institute of North Texas (MINT), an AMI training center; the Montessori Institute of Texas (MIT), a professional development organization; AMITOT, responsible for licensing Texas Montessori schools; and Neighbors United, which operates Montessori programs for low income children on three campuses in Dallas.  She is an adjunct faculty member in the Endicott College Montessori master’s program.

Mary Caroline speaks Spanish, Portuguese, and French.  She has lived in Brazil and Mexico, and has enjoyed travelling around the world for Montessori activities.  Her two daughters attended Montessori schools.  


 

DR. LARRY QUADE (Mr. Larry) Pedagogy Advisor

Larry is an International Teacher Trainer for AMI at the Primary level.  He serves on the Board of Directors for the Montessori Institute of North Texas, Dallas, where he assists in training Primary teachers.  Larry has been a Montessori teacher and school administrator for 27 years.  He joined BGMS in 2000 as a Primary Guide, and served as Head of School in 2004-2005 and Interim Head in 2010.  He has a B.A. in Anthropology from the Univ. of Texas at Austin and a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the Univ. of Kansas.  He was formerly a tenured Associate Professor at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas.  

 

BRIAN BROOKS (Mr. Brian) Marketing & Development Director

Brian has a B.S. in Marketing from Arizona State University. This is his sixth year at BGMS. Brian previously worked for the Boy Scouts of America where he gained his knowledge of working with non-profits. He has many years of experience in marketing and graphic design, and has even worked on as a radio personality, and a PA Announcer for a semi-pro basketball team. Brian lives in Keller with his wife, Megan, two sons.

 

JOSÉ GARCIA (Mr. José) Maintenance

Jose moved here from Mexico nearly 27 years ago. He has worked in landscaping for over 17 years, doing work for major hotels, and even some of the Dallas Cowboys. His passion is arranging flowers. Jose is married and has three daughters. He has been a part of the BGMS family for ten years.


BRENDA O’KELLEY (Ms. Brenda) Administratiive Assistant

After earning a degree in Social Work at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas, Brenda worked for several years in the Dallas County health system. Brenda came to BGMS in 1998. She is a native of Texas and has two daughters and five grandchildren.


TRICIA TUSCANA (Ms. Tricia) Finance

Tricia has been our Finance Director for seven years after serving as Assistant Finance Director for two years.  Having attended TCC and UTA, she runs a small bookeeping business from her home in Bedford.  Tricia has served as an office manager/bookkeeper for 19 years.  A texas resident for 32 years, Tricia is the mother of two grown children.  She enjoys the outdoors, music, cooking, and attending church.


 

JOAN VEAZEY (Ms. Joan) Purchasing and Inventory

Joan attended Lincoln College, majoring in Early Childhood Education, and taught kindergarten for 16 years before coming to BGMS.  She has been with us for 25 years and has an adult son who attended our school as a child.  Joan likes to write historical fiction and children’s books and hopes to get published one day.  She also loves assisting her husband, who is a wonderful nature photographer.


LESLEY SANDERLIN (Ms. Lesley) Receptionist

Lesley graduated from University of North Texas with a degree in General Business.  During high school, she worked with special needs children for three years.  She later worked in daycare, and in the BGMS Almost Home program.  She has lived in Hurst all her life, and plans on staying in Texas.  She enjoys playing, writing and singing music.  Lesley is also a huge Dallas Cowboys fan.
