History

The Barbara Gordon Montessori School opened as the Montessori Academy of Grapevine in 1971 at the request of interested parents.  Barbara Gordon who founded the school, was a recognized leader in Montessori education.  After only one year, the school had overgrown its current facility in Grapevine, and was relocated to a house on Barbara Gordon's property in Southlake.  It was in this location for 13 years.  By 1986, the school's increasing enrollment precipitated a move to the current location, and the school was renamed to honor its founder.  Beginning with just two buildings, the campus has expanded over the years to include approximately nine acres and eleven buildings.
